Church in Nepal

Nepal is landlocked country, sandwiched between India and China, and straddling the Himalayas. Although Nepal is one of the smallest countries in the world, it has a vast cultural diversity. There are more than 100 ethnic groups among whom about 60 different languages are spoken. The vast majority of these ethnic groups are Hindu, with most of the others being Buddhist. There are approximately 20,000 Tibetans settled in Nepal.

Pokhara is a city set in a wide, fertile valley just south of the Annapurna mountains. It is about 25 minutes by air from the capital, Kathmandu and is a popular resort destination for tourists and trekkers.

In 2002 Dave and Amber Lockyer, along with John Pradhan, moved to Pokhara to start a new church. Dave and Amber returned to the UK in 2003 and John has continued to lead this church plant. They currently gather about 30 people and call themselves Pokhara Anugraha Mandali (Grace Church, Pokhara). John is married to Esther and they have a daughter, Aradhana.
